Founded in 1962 by Mendel Marty, Marty Legal Counsel began at a time when immigration pathways were scarce and often arbitrary. Families were frequently separated without the opportunity for appeal, as immigration decisions were final. With only two immigration lawyers practicing in Toronto at the time, Marty Legal Counsel became a pioneer in advocating for accessible and fair representation.

In the early 1990s, the firm expanded its services to include U.S. immigration options. This milestone culminated in 2012 with the establishment of our first U.S. offices in Philadelphia, PA (our U.S. Headquarters) and Providence, RI (New England). Since then, we have grown significantly, opening offices in Vail, Colorado (Mountain West) in 2015, Cleveland, Ohio (Midwest) in 2019, and Orlando, Florida (South) in 2024. Internationally, we marked our presence in Europe by opening an Amsterdam office in 2022.
